In one of our shootouts, we said that the only way BlackBerry was going to make it into the mainstream is if they add media capabilities in their platform. Well, they just did with the newly released T-Mobile BlackBerry Pearl.

What's seemingly great about this is that they now have a 1.3 megapixel camera (no doubt it'll suck, but hey, at least there is one!), "real" web browsing (this means HTML y'all - no WAP pages and the like). It's a quad-band, looks pretty good, BUT it has the quasi-keyboard akin to the 7105t (from T-Mobile).

Stay tuned for more details... Specs (from the T-Mobile website):

Size: 4.2 x 2.0 x 0.6 inches
Weight: 3.1 ounces
Included battery: Li-Ion
Talk time: Up to 3.5 hours
Standby time: Up to 15 days
Band (frequency): 850 MHz;900 MHz;1800 MHz;1900 MHz

Its looking like a nice phone, I must admit I'm tempted to get one. Has anyone got any experience with this model?

I just bought on and it nice but...

I also have a T-Mobile MDA and I get free data over the GPRS connection. I have been unable to get data on the Pearl, they say because it connects via Edge. I am confused because the specs say it is a GPRS phone. Anyone know a way around this issue?
