In the past, I've written briefly about scenarios where you would want to reduce the number of clicks to open up an app or invoke some other action.
Today, we'll start with a simple method by talking about how to put an application's shortcut on your start menu.
As an exmaple, we downloaded and successfully ran PocketPutty but had the app stored somewhere obscure in the MDA.
To open it up, we'd have to dig through the File Explorer into the appropriate sub-folder within My Documents - what a mess!
Here's how to simplify your life...
1. Open up File Explorer (Start -> Programs -> File Explorer)
Click on the start menu.
If File Explorer isn't already on your menu, then:
2. Locate the appropriate application you want (again using File Explorer). Say that PocketPutty is located in the "My Documents" folder:
3. Once you've located the app, just select it (it will open the program - just go ahead and "x" it to close)
4. On the lower "Task" bar, click the following:
Menu -> Edit -> Copy
5. Then click back to the open window and click the "Up" option to go back to the "My Device" level only to drill back down into "Windows" -> "Start Menu"
6. Now, on the lower "Task" bar, click the following:
Menu -> Edit -> Paste Shortcut
Voila! That's it!
Now notice that your shortcut can be found in the start menu:
And in the programs folder:
File explorer is your friend!
