There is still no repetable "fix" to the network registration problem this MDA exhibits.
So currently the only thing that is repeatable is a simple workaround. In essense, the phone ships with it automatically detecting available networks. You will instead tell it to manually register onto the T-Mobile network. We haven't heard people with the Cingular 8125 on the Cingular network have this problem anywhere in the US.
We wonder what would happen under the following combinations testing for network registration AND signal strength:
8125 (Cingular SIM) on the T-Mobile network
8125 (T-Mobile SIM) on the T-Mobile network
8125 (Overseas SIM) on the T-Mobile network
MDA (Cingular SIM) on the Cingular network
MDA (T-Mobile SIM) on the Cingular network
MDA (Overseas SIM) on the Cingular network
By doing this, we can test results under controlled situations to better identify the underlying culprit...
Anyway, onto the "workaround".
Go to SETTINGS -> PHONE ICON -> NETWORK TAB -> SELECT "MANUAL" UNDER THE NETWORK SELECTION DROP-DOWN MENU.
Do this in an area where you typically have good solid signal. You will then be prompted to select Cingular or T-Mobile. Choose T-Mobile.
This will be the first time you have to do this.
The next time your phone is still confused trying to find its way, follow the steps above and just click the "FIND NETWORK" button as the last step. It will find the network(s) available and again, just select "T-Mobile".
We are working on finding a "batch" file or some similar shortcut to reduce the number of steps down to a single click of an icon. Stay tuned...
