If you use a Bluetooth headset or are transfer data via Bluetooth connections and sometimes experience time-outs or don't know for sure if that's what's going on, you can verify it by disabling the sleep mode:
Requires a registry edit:
HKey_Current_User\Control Panel\Phone
Change the Sleep key from Value 1 to 0.
