By now many of you have already heard (or seen) that the Treo was going WM5 as well as PalmOS.
I recently had a chance to play around with the 700w on the Verizon Wireless network and had this initial reaction. Nice!
For those of you who already own a Treo of older generation(s) (remember those flip-lid doodads?), there's no doubt that if you love your Treo now, you'll really love the 700 more regardless of which OS you pick...

Treo users are a loyal bunch (as are "Crackberry" fanatics as well as SideKick fans).
The Treo was the kick-butt device prior to the SideKick since it had a few apps that were beyond what the Blackberry would offer back then. But now, with an interesting offering from HTC (brilliant Taiwanese folks!) with the MDA and 8125 for example., we see a device that competes with the Treo (albeit on a different platform altogether) until now...
With the launch of the 700w, we're now talking Windows Mobile 5.0 (same as the MDA). It even has a megapixel camera! It still has a squeare display not quite as capable as the MDA's 320x240 (at least you can view Excel files a bit better with the MDA), but we'll see how it stacks up compared with the MDA.
It won't be offered in the T-Mobile carrier's line-up (no news yet), but it looks promising with Cingular!
For now, you can get them at Verizon Wireless running on its blazing fast EV-DO network. So if global roaming is not critical and you're a one-handed typer, this is for you.
